Costa Rica To Adopt New .cr Domain

Since  March 3, 2008, the Costa Rican Registry (National Acadamy of Sciences) allows the registration of domain names with the “.cr” extension.
Within a period of 90 days, starting on March 3, 2008, only the owners of domain names with the extensions ”.ac.cr”, “.co.cr”, “.ed.cr”, “.fi.cr”, “.go.cr”, “.or.cr” and “.sa.cr” are allowed to register their domain names with the “.cr” extension.
Beyond that period, the “.cr” can be registered by any person on a “first arrived, first served” base.
Consequently, all the owners who will not exert their right within this period, will loose their priority right, and will risk that their name will be registered with the “.cr” extension by someone else.
